An experienced trial lawyer, Alex represents corporations and individuals in white collar matters, government and internal investigations, and complex civil cases. Alex regularly guides clients through investigations and enforcement actions initiated by the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Drug Enforcement Administration, New York Attorney General’s Office, Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, and other regulatory bodies. Alex also prosecutes and defends civil cases in federal and state courts and in arbitration across several practice areas, including employment law, contract disputes, securities fraud, and real estate.
In addition, Alex has worked on impactful pro bono matters. In 2023, Alex and WHW Partner Jeffrey Udell filed an amicus brief in the Second Circuit in support of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s lawsuit to prevent a former prosecutor from testifying about an ongoing investigation pursuant to a subpoena before the House Judiciary Committee. In 2026, Alex and WHW Partners Sean Haran and Barry Rashkover filed an amicus brief in support of a petition for rehearing en banc in the Ninth Circuit concerning issues related to the pleading standard in Section 10(b) actions.
Prior to joining WHW, Alex served for seven years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, where he investigated and prosecuted felony cases, including homicide, gun violence, sexual assault, identity theft, financial fraud, and narcotics trafficking. He tried numerous cases to verdict and conducted long-term, multi-defendant investigations.
Experience
Served as trial counsel in complex, seven-week sex trafficking trial in the Southern District of New York.
Represented pharmaceutical manufacturer in DEA investigation and litigation over recordkeeping violations, which put the company at risk of closing its business. Obtained global settlement within several months, including restoration of the company’s authorization to manufacture.
Defended president and chief investment officer of publicly traded company in Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into alleged insider trading.
Represented sports franchise in arbitration concerning theft of trade secrets.
Represented national healthcare company and its general counsel in U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division’s criminal investigation of alleged agreements not to hire or solicit employees from another major national healthcare company. Obtained non-prosecution agreement.
Defended New York City demolition company under indictment for commercial bribery in New York County Supreme Court, securing favorable misdemeanor plea.
Conducted internal investigation for professional sports league into gambling misconduct.
Conducted internal investigation for international entertainment and hospitality company related to allegations of negligence and security breaches at one of its venues.
Represented, as pool counsel, chairman and officers of publicly traded cannabis company in complex civil litigation in Oregon state court.
Represented trial witness in the New York Attorney General’s civil prosecution of the Trump Organization.
Served as pro bono counsel to client charged with Hobbs Act robbery in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, securing a time-served sentence.
